Princess Diana was not known as “The People’s Princess” because it was a cute moniker.
No, she became an essential person for the British people to draw on and be inspired by via her humanitarian efforts and compassion. As she famously stated, she want to be the Queen in people’s hearts rather than the Queen on paper.
Her death was caused by a catastrophic accident in Paris, which is one of the most devastating occurrences in contemporary British history. Princess Diana’s legacy remains on to this day, not just via her sons William and Harry, but most importantly, in people’s hearts.
We’ve seen a lot of wonderful Diana images over the years, but there are others that haven’t gotten quite as much attention.
That doesn’t make them any less magnificent…
Princess Diana died far too young, and her life was hampered by a slew of difficulties. Unfortunately, she was followed everywhere she went and had a rough private life after joining the royal family.
Princess Diana was responsible for the upbringing of Harry and William.
Despite everything, Diana was a kind mother. She always placed William and Harry first because the mother-of-two wanted her children to enjoy as normal a childhood as possible.
Princess Diana frequently brought William and Harry to amusement parks and other pleasant places. Of course, she was aware of what royal life involved, including the fact that they were fed meals at all times and were required to behave properly as royal children.
She was also conscious of the necessity of giving William and Harry the opportunity to be like any other youngster. With this in mind, she would occasionally slip them out of the palace to obtain quick food.
“I remember the princess came into the kitchen one day and said, ‘Cancel lunch for the boys, I’m taking them out, we’re going to McDonald’s,” Diana’s former personal chef Darren McGrady told Marie Claire.
“And I said to your Royal Highness, ‘Oh my God – your Royal Highness, I can do that, I can do burgers.'” ‘No, it’s the toy they want,’ she said.
Naturally, William and Harry enjoyed spending time with their mother. She nurtured them to believe they were just like any other child, which they were in many respects!
Diana always tried to be the best mother she could be, knowing that brothers may and would quarrel from time to time.
She desired for her sons to always be best friends.
Robert Lacey, a royal historian, previously disclosed information about Harry and William’s youth, including how their mother wanted the two boys to make her a crucial pledge.
Lacey describes the friendship William and Harry had during their youth and adolescence in his book Battle of Brothers. Princess Diana was determined that they would remain close throughout their lives, and she wanted the boys to pledge that they would always be “best friends.”
Lacey references psychic Simone Simmons, who used to consult Diana, in the book.
“You must promise me that you will always be each other’s best friends,” Diana allegedly told Simmons’ boys. “And never let anyone come between you.”
“Both boys promised they would keep to that,” Simmons said. “They high-fived each other and cuddled their mother tightly.”
“‘Anybody would have melted at the sight,” she went on to say. “Then they went out to play soccer.”
It was evident from the start that Diana’s existence as a princess was not the end of the world. Her children were always her top priority, and she tried to shield them from anything that may come between them.
This included the Royal Family itself; Diana was said to be concerned that the Queen and Charles were planning to remove her from her children.
William and Harry debuted a statue of their mother.
Although William and Harry made the aforementioned pledge to Diana, their relationship has deteriorated in recent years, culminating with Harry’s decision to quit the Royal Family in 2020.
William and Harry reunited a year ago on what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday to unveil a new statue of their late mother. Diana’s bronze sculpture, flanked by three children, was installed in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, her former London residence.
“Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength, and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better,” the couple wrote in a joint statement.
“Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.”
It was the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death this year. William and Harry made a point of honoring their mother, but they did so independently.
A royal source told People Magazine that William spent the day quietly with his wife, Kate Middleton, at Windsor.
Harry spoke about his mother ahead of the anniversary on August 31, saying he intended to make her proud.
Princess Diana’s romance with Camilla
“I want it to be a day filled with memories of her incredible work and love for the way she did it,” Harry stated on the occasion of her death. “I want it to be a day when I can share my mother’s spirit with my family, with my children, who I wish could have met her.” Every day, I want to make her proud.”
Diana, like any other individual, struggled with personal concerns despite having such a prominent life. One of the most difficult issues for the Princess concerned her husband, then-Prince Charles.
Charles had an affair with Camilla, who would ultimately become his wife, few years after his marriage to Diana.
Their romance began in 1986, according to Prince Charles’ authorized biography, as quoted by Town & Country. At the time, Charles was still married to Princess Diana, and she found out about it.
Diana addressed Camilla about the affair in 1989, urging her to back off.
“I know what’s going on between you and Charles, and I just want you to know that,” Camilla recalls Diana telling her, as reported by Town & Country.
“‘You’ve received everything you ever wanted,’ [Diana] remarked to me. What more do you want when you have all the guys in the world falling in love with you and two beautiful children?'”
“So I told myself, ‘I want my husband.'” ‘I’m sorry I’m in the way, and it must be horrible for both of you,’ I added. But I’m aware of what’s going on. “Don’t treat me like an idiot,” Diana said Camilla.
At Diana’s burial, the Queen breached royal tradition.
Things appeared to be normal to the public, but it wasn’t long until Charles and Diana’s dream life was over. The couple announced their divorce in 1992, however both continued to perform formal royal obligations. Four years later, in August 1996, they agreed a divorce settlement.
Diana was awarded the privilege to keep her Kensington Palace residence and the title “Princess of Wales” in addition to a hefty settlement. She did, however, promise to relinquish her title of “Royal Highness,” as well as any future claim to the throne.
Diana’s death shocked the entire country and the world. Her burial was conducted at Westminster Abbey on September 6, 1997, and she was buried at her family’s property, Althorp Park.
More than 2000 people attended Princess Diana’s burial. Following the service, her coffin was brought through London, giving the British people the opportunity to bid their beloved Princess goodbye.
Surprisingly, the Queen was never compelled to lower her head. However, at Diana’s funeral, she broke royal tradition by bowing to the late Princess’s coffin as it passed by on a gun carriage. It was Queen Elizabeth’s lone exception to the royal norm.

Princess Diana’s rare photographs
Diana was pursued by the paparazzi press for most of her royal life; it’s not a leap to claim Diana was the most photographed person in the world at the time.
In a nutshell, everyone wanted a piece of Diana. According to The Guardian, newspapers were willing to pay up to $500,000 for blurry photos of her.
Her boys, William and Harry, witnessed both sides of the press’s treatment of their mother. Harry stated that he wished to quit the Royal Family in his early twenties, mainly because of how his mother was treated prior to her death.
“Look what it did to my mum, how am I ever going to settle down and have a wife and a family when I know that it’s going to happen again,” he said. “I don’t want to be part of this.”
Having said that, numerous famous photographs of Princess Diana have been captured throughout the years. Sure, some of them were snapped by photographers seeking to sell her images. However, there are photographs that exhibit wonderful warmth and provide us with a magnificent glimpse at Diana’s life and profession.
A search through the archives yields hundreds of never-before-seen images of the late Princess. Some of these have been assembled in an effort to reveal a side of Diana that has rarely been seen.
Diana was a fashion star at the height of her celebrity, and she carried that with her on the slopes when skiing.
Skiing, sunbathing, and humanitarian work
Diana is shown here on a skiing trip to Austria with her kids, Harry and William. This photograph was shot shortly after Harry turned nine years old. He’s adorable, and the whole family is gorgeous!
Diana and her children visited Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands in 1990, together with her sister’s children. The island was owned by Richard Branson of Virgin.
Dian knows how to have a good time. Look at this lovely photo of her and Harry visiting the amusement park Thorpe Park in 1992.
Diana was dubbed “The People’s Princess” by many. She was involved in several humanitarian endeavors, offering a good example of how a kind and loving person should act. Princess Diana is shown here visiting an Orthopedic workshop in Luanda, Angola, and sitting with land mine victims.
We could go on and on about Diana’s wonderful photographs. This one was taken in 1971, while she was on vacation in Itchenor, West Sussex.
Meanwhile, this one was shot outside Diana’s flat in Coleherne Court, London, before to her engagement to Charles.
Harry is pictured here sticking out his tongue to the crowd gathering outside Buckingham Palace. Diana seemed to be taken aback.
Barbour is still a popular royal apparel brand, although Princess Diana may have worn it best.
Diana adored Barbour, and her journey to the Outer Hebrides in Scotland in 985 was the ideal occasion to wear her Barbour-style waxed cotton jacket.
Jayne Fincher, a royal photographer who captured some of Princess Diana’s most memorable images, trailed the royal couple everywhere they went. She’d rented a jet to travel to the Outer Hebrides, where Charles and Diana were on official business.
“When I caught up,” Fincher tells me, “Charles said, ‘Where have you been?'”
The Outer Hebrides are subject to extremes of wind and rain, which Princess Diana experienced on her visit there in 1985.
But she looks great in the images from the trip, and photographer Jayne noticed something after going over the negatives.
“You don’t often see Diana dressed like that.” She appeared to be in a good mood. Even though it was raining outside, her makeup remained flawless and unsmudged. “I looked like a shambles, as usual,” she said.
The shot below was captured during Diana’s last summer on Earth. She is spotted plunging into the ocean with her lover Dodi Al Fayed on a yacht in St. Tropez, France.
Diana will be remembered as a very great and loving human being.
