Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and her daughter Princess Lilibet shared a touching moment during their first overseas trip after stepping down from their royal roles.
As Meghan navigates the more challenging aspects of motherhood, she revealed a heartfelt exchange with her 2-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet during their three-day visit to Nigeria, starting on May 10. While at Lightway Academy, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about the sweet conversation they had.
Meghan shared with a kindergarten class, “Our daughter, Lili, she’s much, much tinier than you guys,” as reported by People. She’s about to turn three. Meghan recalled that just a few weeks ago, Lili would only see her own reflection in Meghan’s eyes. Meghan then described how Lili recently said, “Mama, I see myself in you.”
At first, Meghan took Lili’s words quite literally, but her own interpretation was deeper. She thought to herself, “Yes, I see myself in you, and you see me in you.”
Addressing the students, Meghan added, “As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well,” while sitting next to Harry in the classroom.
The couple, who are also parents to five-year-old Prince Archie, participated in singing and dance activities with the children and enjoyed playing games during their visit. Meghan mentioned, “That’s Lili’s favorite class,” according to the publication. “Perhaps it’s all the hopping around,”
Although Meghan and Harry prefer to keep their personal life private, they occasionally share glimpses of their family life.
In February, the Duke of Sussex shared on “Good Morning America”, “The kids are doing great.” He noted how quickly they are growing up, just like any other children.
Harry, 39, added, “They both have an amazing sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day like most kids do.” He concluded ,“I’m just really appreciative to be a father.”
