Rosalynn and Jimmy’s health has deteriorated over the last year. Jimmy Carter refused medical treatment for a variety of health conditions and entered hospice care in February.

Jimmy’s health is expected to worsen rapidly now that Rosalynn has died.

Jason Carter, Rosalynn’s grandson, appeared to corroborate this to the New York Post before to her funeral.

“He’s coming to the end, and he’s very, very physically diminished,” he said.

“He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him.”

During Rosalynn’s poignant memorial service, Amy Carter, the couple’s daughter, read a letter from Jimmy to his wife when he was away serving in the Navy.

“My darling, every time I’ve ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I returned to discover just how wonderful you are,” he said in the letter. “When I see you, I fall in love all over again.”

Rest in peace, Rosalynn Carter. Please join me in praying for the Carter family.
